New digital image processing platform

Case Study

The Business Need

The client is a provider of imagery capture, distribution platforms and retailing solutions for the leisure, theme park and tourist industries. They wanted to build a new digital platform that was resilient and capable of delivering the company’s vision of being able to capture and share moments of fun for 1 billion guests by 2025.

The key challenge meant in re-engineering legacy systems as they were built in outdated technology. The client required a communicable design framework with more availability of design functions, this required changing the capability within the existing team and changing the working methodologies.

Consultancy Engagement

Between Sep 2018 and Nov 2019 Damian worked with Picsovle International Limited. Brought in by the Group Operations Director to setup and run the technology workstreams within a new digital transformation programme.

Achievements included:

  • Review the existing ways of working and he was asked to implement his recommendations that included moving the technology team to a hybrid Agile software development methodology.

  • Further recommendations resulted in change that aligned DevOps principles and toolsets, with high degrees of automation throughout the development process, which led immediately to a greater level of cadence and more regular releases that supported the new global product team.

  • Redesigning the team with the capability to deliver the new AWS cloud computing infrastructure

  • Delivering a resilient and hardened platform in readiness for season opening.
